Free Youth Engagement Workshops

Following the success of the first youth engagement session, two more exciting workshops are on the way!

 Podcast/DJ and Cooking Workshop

Portreath Parish Council and 4 Youth Be The Change are teaming up once again with Truro Nourish Hub to run a combined Podcast/DJ and Cooking Workshop.

Young people in the parish will:

  • Learn how to create their own podcast and explore DJ skills
  • Get hands-on cooking experience using vegan and allergy-friendly ingredients

 Graffiti Workshop

Portreath Parish Council and 4 Youth Be The Change are also working with Sumo Graffiti to offer 2 graffiti sessions.

Participants will:

  • Design and create their own piece of graffiti art
  • Work with Jonny from Sumo Graffiti for expert tips and inspiration
  • Have all materials provided - just bring enthusiasm and imagination

Both workshops are completely free but spaces will be limited and no booking is required - just turn up at the start time.

Emergency contact details will be required for all participants and photos will be taken at the workshops.

Please see the posters for more details.

Young People in the parish will have the opportunity to get hands-on in the kitchen with a vegan and allergy-friendly cooking session or learn how to create and record their own podcast.

Spaces are limited at 10 per workshop.  There's no need to book as spaces will be on a first come, first served basis. All you need to do is come along to the Millennium Hall, Portreath, at 10.15am for a chance to take part.

Emergency contact details will be required for all participants and photos will be taken at the workshops.

Don't worry if you can't make it to these workshops, or if you're unsuccessful in getting one of the 10 available spaces - we will be running more events in the coming weeks.  Keep an eye on the website or our Facebook page for more details.

Youth Engagement Sessions

Portreath Parish Council is aware of the increasing issues of anti-social behaviour in the parish and is committed to supporting a safe and respectful community for all.  In response to these concerns, we have taken a proactive first step by establishing a Youth Engagement Working Group and committing funds to a series of community outreach sessions in partnership with 4Youth Be Your Change.  Following each session they will produce a report and these can all be found on the right-hand side of this page.

These sessions will provide trained youth workers the opportunity to engage directly with young people in the area, address and correct poor behaviour, and gather valuable feedback on what activities and support they would like to see in the parish.

We are pleased to confirm that Devon and Cornwall Police will be increasing their patrols in the village, helping to provide additional reassurance and a visible presence to hopefully deter anti-social behaviour.

We recognise that this is just the beginning. To make a lasting impact, we are reaching out to neighbouring town and parish councils, as well as Cornwall Councillors, to ask for their support. We are also actively exploring funding opportunities to ensure these sessions can continue and grow in the coming months.
